French health authorities are trying to reassure the public. According to them, consuming meat from vaccinated animals "does not pose a risk to humans." Brigitte Autran, chair of the Committee for Monitoring and Predicting Health Risks, explains that "RNA is degraded very quickly in the cell" and that it is "completely degraded" before the animal is slaughtered. According to this explanation, no trace of vaccine RNA would remain in meat intended for human consumption.
However, this interpretation is far from universally accepted. Jean-Marc Sabatier, head of research at the CNRS, has serious reservations. He points out that human studies have shown that the vaccine RNA persists for up to 28 days after injection, and that of the spike protein even for up to 709 days. These results suggest that the molecules used do not degrade as quickly as claimed.
